From my reader
Okay – I’ve got a whole whack of tabs open in my Firefox and I need to clear some of them out. I was going to do full posts on a few of these but just decided to link them for now. I may do some longer posts on some of this stuff another time. Check these out -
- Fred McKinnon and Chris Moncus are at St. Simons Community Church they just moved in to their new facility this weekend and it sounds like everything was A+. Way to go Fred, Chris and teams!!
Although the sanctuary will seat around 1,000 chairs, we put out around 850 seats … both the 8:45 service and the 11:00 service were at capacity … maybe a few scattered chairs here and there, but at least 95-99% full, from my vantage point on the stage.
- Jordon Cooper has a great post on Christianity on sub-culture. He has collected some thoughts that will give you some insight on the state of the church and culture in Canada, if that sort of thing interests you.
This is going to make some of you madder than usual but when I read Ron Sider’s The Scandal of the Evangelical Conscience and see those going to church and professing to be Christians to be no different than anyone else, we know something must not be working. Is it fear of sin or just fear of the world?
- John Voelz posted about Nine Inch Nails releasing their new CD under a Creative Commons License. The guys at TuneCore also posted about their involvement. Not the firs time Creative Commons has been used by a “major” artist but very cool to see more artists doing this!!
- Smashing Magazine posted an incredible collection of 25 Brilliant Animated Short Movies -
- Garfield Minus Garfield -
Who would have guessed that when you remove Garfield from the Garfield comic strips, the result is an even better comic about schizophrenia, bipolor disorder, and the empty desperation of modern life? Friends, meet Jon Arbuckle. Let’s laugh and learn with him on a journey deep into the tortured mind of an isolated young everyman as he fights a losing battle against lonliness in a quiet American suburb.

Thanks for stopping by the blog. I'm currently on sabbatical this summer - you can read more about my sabbatical here: Personal Update - What's Next
Since I'm away from the blog I've decided to close comments. I love the interaction and discussion that happens with readers and since I'm not able to do that this summer, I'll be very much looking forward to that when I return in August.
