  1. Before the Throne is my favorite hymn. It’s a hymn I had only heard a few times growing up, a hymn I didn’t really get. But then now, 15 years later or so I heard it again, redid, in an entirely different way than choirs, organs, and pianos, and simply fell in love with it. Lyrically, it is so uplifting, knowing that I can be so messed up with temptation and Christ has been there all along.

    Love it!

    AND a +1 on google+

  2. How Great Thou Art

    It’s classic.

  3. My favorite hymn is And Can it Be. I love how the gospel is so clearly laid out in that song!

  4. Rock of Ages….so profoundly beautiful

  5. My favorite hymn is It Is Well because of the beautiful lyrics and the amazing story behind it.
I also +1 and tweeted this.
    God Bless

  6. Rock of Ages – covered by PageCXVI nonetheless! It’s so hard to pick a favorite hymn, but this one is my typical answer to such a question.

  7. My favorite hymn is Come Thou Fount. It is sung at every graduation here at college, and I just fell in love with it again when Page CXVI covered it!

My favorite hymn thus far has been Rock of Ages. I have found the lyrics to bring peace and comfort in a difficult season of life.

  9. The Old Rugged Cross – There are so many times I end up in a season that the cross looses its sway over my heart, I think of it as “that symbol of my faith”, but I forget the scandalous beauty of what was accomplished there. This song always challenges the callouses that can grow and reminds me of where my confidence, my identity, my hope rests.

  10. Hi … I posted this contest to my Facebook here:

My favorite hymn? WHEN I SURVEY THE WONDROUS CROSS.
It brings me back to what I need to focus on and… Isaac Watts. ‘Nuf said? :)

  11. Let Your Blood Plead For Me by Isaac Watts is my favorite because it shows our great need for the blood of Jesus. Also, I like this on Facebook. And I like it in real life as well.

  12. I already commented my favorite hymn. But just noticed some people mentioned what else they did…not sure if I need to do that, but just in case…

    I tweeted this (@hhtraylor), and I facebooked it (facebook.com/hhtraylor) and I +1 it!

My favorite hymns – as performed by Page CXVI – are Rock of Ages and How Great Thou Art. The best moment (for me) in Page CXVI’s albums thus far has been the refrain of “Wash me, Savior, or I die” in Rock of Ages. Turning that one line into a repeated refrain caused me to reflect differently on the entire rest of the hymn. Also you did a great thing in turning “In Christ Alone” into a much more playable song.

But my favorite traditional hymns is Amazing Grace. It doesn’t need to change, it’s perfect as it is.

  14. Entry 1: Joy is my favorite hymn. I love the melancholy tone. “…as sorrowful yet always rejoicing”

    Entry 2: Tweeted, http://twitter.com/#!/barwal1/status/119137829908512768

    Entry 3: +1, https://plus.google.com/116575034081832313948/plusones?hl=en

  15. “I’ll Fly Away” – great song of freedom. Rich lyrics.

    Also, I tweeted this (@beloveserve), and I facebooked it (facebook.com/darylmandrews) and I Google+1 it!

  16. The Solid Rock by Mote. This song has such tremendous power within its words. The truth that Jesus is our unwavering rock that our hope is built upon is something that I need to be reminded of daily. It’s comforting to know that the world around me can crumble, but He never does. My favorite line is the end of verse 4, and within it contains our everything as followers of Jesus: “Dressed in His righteousness alone, faultless to stand before the throne.”

  17. My favorite hymn is “My Jesus I Love Thee.”

I have always loved this song. The third verse especially. They are so powerful and what I want to live my life like. I love Page CXVI’s version so much that I had some friends play that version of “My Jesus I Love Thee” as I walked down the aisle in my wedding.

  18. definitely Battle Hymn of the Republic. their rendition is phenomenal.

  19. Jesus Paid it All – because it expresses His Christ’s work extremely well.

  20. If I have to choose one, I’d have to say the favourite is “Be Thou My Vision.” It’s a strong reminder to myself to keep God as my reason for doing everything, as well as a prayer to ask God for help in doing so.

  21. A recent favorite from Page is “His Eye is On the Sparrow.” I love how they incorporate what I think is a trumpet. Overall, I’ll go with “On Christ the Solid Rock” because it always draws me back to the truth that our Father is the one who initiates and provides every spiritual blessing.

  22. I love Page CXVI’s rendition of Joy/It Is Well. In the midst of gut wrenching sorrow we can choose to take our anguish and lay it at the feet of the Cross where we can find our joy and peace.

  23. Tweeted – http://twitter.com/#!/CalebTheSpy/status/119409484849356801

There is no way to choose one favorite hymn, I could probably do a top 10 list.

  24. I’d have to agree with Joel. “Joy/It is Well” was a bit of a kick in the head at first. At a second hearing, I started to see what they were trying to say in stark terms. It was much appreciated.

  25. One of my all time favorite hymns is Praise to the Lord, the Almighty. I love the reminder in there to “ponder anew what the Almighty can do.” A great reminder for us when we forget and get overwhelmed with life.

I also tweeted, facebooked, and google +ed this post.

(Not sure how to pull in the other links)

    Thanks!

  26. Rock of ages! Always a perspective-adjusting comfort for me. Especially the Page CXVI version.

  27. My personal favorite that Page CXVI has done is Joy. First heard it at a show in Denver at the Walnut Room and it has become a favorite in our home. Our 6 and 8 year old Autistic children constantly request either Joy or one of The Autumn Film’s songs. The passion in the music and lyrics can reach two children who have a hard time understanding emotions.

  28. Hello, I would like to say that my favorite hymn is You Have Redeemed My Soul because I love the concept that we are hungry children, a dried up river, and a burned out forest. Once I became a Christian I realized that I really couldn’t do anything for myself and that I needed God to redeem me and buy me back from death. Anyways Thanks so much.

  29. my favorite him is probably come thou fount, followed closely by the love of god.

come thou fount is just about as perfect as a song can get. lyrics. melody. perfect.

the love of god has some of the most powerful lyrics ever, though.

  30. My favorite hymn of late has been “In Christ Alone.”

This hymn capitulates how much I need him. My light, my strength; my song.

“What heights of love, what depths of peace! When fears are stilled! when strivings cease.”

Coming from a more legalistic background, this song really helps me realize that the blood of Christ is the only thing that makes me righteous. I can finally rest in his sacrifice; paid in full.

  31. Be Thou My Vision

I think one of the biggest struggles as Christians is living in this world, being tempted by worldly things. This song always brings me back to what truly matters: God. Worshipping God with our lives is all that matters for us as God’s created beings. My wife and I sing this song to our 11 month old son every night before he sleeps, and its lyrics hang up in our dining room as a visible reminder that our lives belong to the Lord and ought to be focused on Him.

  32. When it is done well, ‘It is Well’ is a beautiful, moving resolution to be content in GOd’s mercy, despite circumstances.

    +1′d and tweeted, too (http://twitter.com/#!/ben_a/status/119740784152023040)

  33. Be Still My Soul just draws me to wonder and awe in G-d. It speaks truth to my soul and it says “Yes, this is good.”

    Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1191480044

  34. My favorite hymn is “I Sing the Mighty Power of God.”

  35. I also shared about the giveaway on FB.

    • Rock of Ages is my all time favorite. I listen to Psalms while I fall asleep..have for along time now

  36. Amazing Grace! I’m a sinner saved by the grace of God, forgiven by grace. It’s amazing how God quickly is willing to forgive. I could confess my sin right now that i haven’t confess. And instantly forgives me because of what Jesus have done. That is amazing!.

  37. Be Thou My Vision

  38. I love nothing but the blood because it reminds me of the foundation of my life. My identity is rooted in Jesus alone, and it is only by his blood that I am made clean, not anything I do. When I listen to that hymn I cannot help but smile and be reassured of the hope that I have. We are made white as snow.

  39. 1. The Doxology is simple and reminiscent of an earlier time of worship in the church. Thanks for this.

  40. Hi Chris!

Great post – found this on Easy Worship Blog. Would love to see you again. Trying to talk MWarnock into letting us host a Worship Conference late summer 2012 and would love to see if you wanted to be a part of it! I shared this post link on Facebook. Thanks for helping us stay in the know! Dianne, Worship Producer @ FBC Columbia

  41. Oh – What a Friend We Have in Jesus! Favorite hymn from childhood that we never sing anymore. Love that He is always ready to listen!

  42. It’s hard for me to narrow down my favourite to just one. I love lots of hymns, especially those written prior to the 1900s. “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross,” “Holy, Holy, Holy,” “A Mighty Fortress,” “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty” are some of the best.

P.S. I also tweeted this contest. Sadly, I’m not on Google+ or Facebook.

  43. Hope its not to late to enter. I tweeted this, and posted to facebook. My favorite hymn? Be Thou My Vision. I love it both musically and lyrically. Especially love this line: “naught be all else to me, save that thou art.”
