Paul Baloche – A Greater Song

I’m planning on introducing What Can I Say from Paul Baloche’s CD “A Greater Song” later this summer and once we do that we’ll be using four songs (Hosanna, Because Of Your Love and Your Name are the others) from the album at our church. I can’t think of any other CD that has that many songs in our rotation. Paul is a brilliant songwriter, a great worship leader and it is clear that he is immersed in the life of a local worship pastor. The combination of those things means that he has put together some incredible songs that are helping the church grow in their worship of God.

Paul Baloche - A Greater Song

Seriously – can you name another CD (not compilation or “best of” CD’s) from a single artist that has FOUR SONGS that you can use in regular rotation at your church?? I think right now we are living in an incredible time where there is an endless number of resources and songs available to us but let’s not overlook the BEST songs and resources that are sometimes right under our noses.

I’m pretty sure Paul Baloche doesn’t read my blog but, Paul, if you’re reading this – thanks, man. Thanks for serving God and giving your gifts and your talent to serve the church. You are a mentor and a role model to so many of us and I’m praying that there are many great songwriters who follow in your footsteps.

Give Paul some props.

Awesome song…. looking forward to singing it at church… I’ve worn out my copy of that CD …
Looking forward to seeing and hearing Paul in October……

Beside this album, I can say:
    - Matt Redman’s Facedown
    - Chris Tomlin’s Not To Us
    - Hillsong’s Blessed!

I love Paul’s work and how he mixes it up on his different releases. I consider Offering & A Greater Song the best p&w albums that I ever had. Btw, I think you meant “What Can I Do?” as the title of the song.

Charlie Hall – Flying into daybreak
Michael Neale – No Greater audience
    Crowder – Illuminate

We actually have 7 (SEVEN!!!) songs from this amazing CD in our rotation. Hosanna, A Greater Song, I Will Boast, Your Name, What Can I Do, You Have Been So Good, Rising.
In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if we eventually do all of them. How many CD’s can you say THAT about? Paul rules. And I mean that in a spiritual, I-know-its-not-about-him way. :-)

I would say that I can’t count the Desperation Band, Hillsong or United albums that we put in regular rotation because each album might come from 10 different writers. Aside from Redman’s “Facedown”, I’d say that I haven’t pulled more than 3 to 4 songs by the same author off of a single album since Darrell Evans’ “Freedom” or Shane Bernard’s “Rocks Won’t Cry.”

I’ll be checking out “A Greater Song” then.

    Chris

I agree… we sing a lot of Paul’s songs…and they are all so well received and loved at our church. When he sang at the NWLC conference last week–it was like an old friend had come to lead us. We sang “What Can I Do”, “Hosanna”, “Your Name”, and “Because of Your Love”—and we were in heaven singing these great songs. Paul has an anointing on his life and singing–I pray that God keeps his hand of protection over him and his gift.

  8. Paul is awesome … I enjoyed his class at the National Worship Leader Conference, and his worship leading. His songs have been such a huge blessing.

  9. Ryan says:

Many of these songs are going to be eventually in rotation from us as well. Hosanna already is – Because of Your Love will be soon.

Its amazing how many picked Matt’s Facedown as well. I would also recommend it to those who have not head it yet. Praise God for Paul & Matt!

  11. Great record, Chris! I just blogged about “Your Name” yesterday because we have been in a series on the Names of God. We do “Because of Your Love” and “Your Name” as staples in our church. He is an amazing writer for the church. Love your blog! I am a fellow Recreate person.Hope to see you in Feb!

  12. I’m loving everyone’s thoughts. Wouldn’t it be cool if this post got to Paul one day and he could see how he’s encouraged all of us along the way??
